Crystalline lens adopts the necessary form to see correctly at all distances (far, intermediate and near) by means of the contraction and relaxation of the ciliary muscle. Precisely, for clear near vision in non-presbyopia patients, the morphology and curvature of the crystalline lens vary with the ciliary muscle contraction. However, after dedicating many hours of concentration to study or to work in near vision, non-presbyopic patients may manifests difficult to relax the vision in far distances, a condition known as accommodative spasm. Concretely, the accommodative spasm is very common that appears in university students or professionals who dedicate many hours of concentration in near vision to realize their daily tasks.
Accommodative spasm induces a decrease in visual acuity and blurred distant vision by accommodation excess, which is easy to diagnose in optometric consulting. However, some alternatives allow improve distance vision, as to make rest periods every 25 minutes of work in near vision, as well outdoor sports or leisure activities are recommended. For example, sports as basketball, football, cycling, walking or running which are necessary distant vision are recommended to reduce the visual fatigue. However, if with these recommendations improvements are not perceived, visual therapy or positive ophthalmic lenses are some of the treatments that reduce its symptomatology. Due to the high frequency of symptoms related to accommodative spasm in the population, from our international project ConsultoriaVisual.com, we plan content marketing and social media strategies in online platforms from ophthalmological clinics, hospitals, and optical establishments to provide more information about its symptoms, causes, prevention, and treatment. By means of our strategies of visual education, the population will know how to prevent the accommodative spasm produced by excess of concentration in near vision. Likewise, from our international project we edit contents for the diffusion of postgraduate courses and master’s degrees in universities as in other online platforms.
