Technology and keratoplasty surgery

» Keratoplasty surgery or also called surgical corneal transplant has advanced considerably» Diagnostic devices are essentials.

Keratoplasty or also called corneal transplant has evolved considerably with the advent of the femtosecond laser technology, improving safety and accuracy of the procedure. Unlike formerly, keratoplasty is an intervention that has advanced considerably because nowadays is possible to replace the portion of the cornea affect. For example, in keratoconus patients when cross-linking or intrastromal rings does not reduce the progression of the corneal ectasia, Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) is the last alternative for restoring the corneal integrity of the patient. However, in other conditions or corneal pathologies may be necessary interventions such as endothelial or central corneal transplant (penetrant keratoplasty) mainly, according to many international scientific studies published. Precisely, in Pubmed Central database there are a lot of international scientific papers published about the outcomes of the different keratoplasties.

"Different diagnostic devices are essential in the pre- and post-operative  keratoplasty surgery to assess the corneal integrity. Its advances have improved considerably the clinical management of keratoplasty"

The improvements introduced in keratoplasty surgery allow that the expectation of the successful be higher as reducing the postoperative complications. In the postoperative the corneal graft, its position as the visual quality is necessary to assess. In addition, to assessing the integrity of the corneal graft by slit lamp, the advances developed in the technology of the diagnostic devices contribute greatly in conducting a no invasive exploration. For example, devices such anterior segment Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), ocular aberrometry or corneal topography that analyses both corneal surfaces among others, are useful in postoperative keratoplasty. Precisely, from our international project, we plan content marketing and social media strategies in online platforms of ophthalmological clinics and hospitals about the keratoplasty procedure, its clinical devices, as about the visual outcomes after the intervention. Likewise, from our international project we edit contents for universities and other online platforms in all Spanish speaking countries. The strategies of our international project will allow realizing a customized diffusion of the postgraduate courses and master’s degrees to provide more information about the training programs. Also, our content generation strategies will improve the visibility of the different social networks, as well as significantly will improve the web positioning naturally (SEO). Through our strategies, the specialties of the online projects of ophthalmology, optometry and optics will be more visible to the internet users.
