Central Serous Chorioretinopathy is an ocular pathology that is produced due to the rising of the neurosensory retina in the region responsible for vision central, known as the macula. Likewise, it has been postulated that also may occur as consequence of alterations in the blood flow of the choroid. Its incidence in the population inducing visual symptoms is more common in men, although also women can manifest its presence, being associated mainly with stress situations among other causes. Precisely, the rising of the neurosensory retina that it induces in the area responsible for the central vision of the retina known as the macula, the Central Serous Chorioretinopathy will induce a visual acuity decrease. In these situations, an ophthalmological examination, and analysis of the visual quality are necessary, because the light-sensitive cells (photoreceptors) not will receive the necessary nutrients due to the lifting in the neurosensory retina induced.
In addition to assessing visual acuity and optical quality, different devices in clinical practice as posterior segment Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) among others are used for diagnosis and monitoring of Central Serous Chorioretinopathy. Precisely, Optical Coherence Tomography is a clinical device that allows the study of the different areas of the retina without direct contact with the cornea of the patient. However, the diagnosis of Central Serous Chorioretinopathy may be completed with other clinical devices as fluorescein angiography, or more recently introduced OCT angiography. If the diagnosis is confirmed in ophthalmological consultation, the ophthalmologist will prescribe treatment. Concretely, different treatments for Central Serous Chorioretinopathy have been proposed as photodynamic therapy or intravitreal injections of antiangiogenic agents among others. However, if the morphological changes in the retina are produced by stress normally disappear without treatment, being necessary to improve the life quality and reducing the stress situations. Because of the importance to increase the knowledge about Central Serous Chorioretinopathy to the population, from ConsultoriaVisual.com we plan content marketing and social media strategies about its causes, its risk factors, its diagnosis, and its treatments. From our international project, we edit contents in online platforms from ophthalmological clinics, hospitals, and in training programs in all Spanish speaking countries. Concretely, our strategies will allow that postgraduate courses or master’s degrees from universities be best known by the academic community worldwide.
