The crystalline lens is a structure located inside the eyeball that provides clear vision at all distances. In its youth is transparent, but due to an aging progress, the cataract develops. Besides age, other risk factors or causes induce crystalline lens opacification as misuse of corticosteroids, or not use sunglasses with ultraviolet filter, among others… Precisely, the development of cataracts induces visual symptoms as a decrease in the transparency, visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, alteration in the colour vision, or even increase of the glare, among others… In such situations is necessary to realize an ophthalmological revision, as plan treatment with the aim of extract the opacified crystalline and to implant an intraocular lens. Concretely, cataract surgery has experimented important advances and innovations with the development of Minimal Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS), or more recently with the advent of the femtosecond laser (FemtoFaco). For example, the use of femtosecond laser in cataract surgery allows realizing corneal incision, capsulorhexis, and crystalline fragmentation. Fragmented the crystalline lens subsequently is aspired by phacoemulsifier. Concretely, scientific studies have proved that the reduction of the ultrasound energy with the use of femtosecond laser protects endothelial corneal cells, as likewise the intervention is automated. In addition, Premium Intraocular Lenses (multifocal, aspheric, toric…) that provide clear vision in near, intermediate and far distances, have experimented important advantages.
Due to the importance of diagnosing cataracts by pupilar dilatation with slit lamp in ophthalmological consultation, as performing other necessary diagnostic tests, it is convenient inform about the need for periodic ophthalmological examinations. Likewise, from ConsultoriaVisual.com we are aware of the importance of providing information about the technology and surgical procedure of cataracts, as its visual outcomes. Indeed, by means of our international project, we plan content marketing and social media strategies in online platforms from ophthalmological clinics and hospitals in Spanish speaking countries. Also, from our project we edit contents on cataracts for the diffusion of postgraduate courses and master’s degrees from universities or other online platforms to academic community receive more information about the training programs.
